Lactation Services: Supporting Your Breastfeeding Journey Every Step of the Way

Welcoming a new baby is a joyous occasion, but it can also bring unexpected challenges, especially when it comes to breastfeeding. At Grande Ronde Hospital (GRH), our Lactation Consulting & Breastfeeding Support program, led by our international board-certified lactation consultants (IBCLC), are here to provide you with the guidance and support you need throughout your breastfeeding journey.

Comprehensive Breastfeeding Support Services

We offer a range of services designed to support you before, during and after your baby’s arrival:

Prenatal visits: Preparing for breastfeeding starts before your baby is born. Our prenatal lactation visits provide you with valuable insights on what to expect and help you address potential challenges before they arise.

Inpatient breastfeeding support: After your baby’s birth, our dedicated nursing staff at the Family Birthing Center will assist you with beginning breastfeeding. Our nurses are trained to provide initial guidance and support. If you need additional help, you’ll have the opportunity to connect with our IBCLC team before you even take your newborn home. We aim to provide you with the education and support you need from the very start of your breastfeeding journey.

Outpatient lactation consultant visits: Our support doesn’t end when you leave the hospital. We’re here for you as you navigate breastfeeding at home. You can schedule an appointment with our IBCLC team for any breastfeeding questions or concerns you may have. For your convenience, virtual visits may also be available when appropriate.
