Last week, while attending the annual meeting of the American Hospital Association (AHA) in Washington, D.C. members of Grande Ronde Hospital’s (GRH) Board of Trustees (Board) accepted recognition for our “century of involvement” in the national organization.

“We are so honored to be recognized in this way because 100 years is a big deal. It shows Grande Ronde’s longevity, as well as our commitment to and passion for rural health care. Since 1907, we have been serving this part of Oregon for those who live here. And for almost as long, we have been taking our perspective to the national level for the benefit of all small, rural healthcare organizations that face the same challenges,” said GRH President and CEO Jeremy Davis.

This annual meeting is an opportunity to present the concerns and priorities of rural medicine, as well as the particular challenges faced by small, independent healthcare organizations like GRH. Attendees were able to meet their congressional delegates that represent our concerns in our nation’s capital. The GRH team met with both Senators Ron Wyden and Jeff Merkley and our District Representative Cliff Bentz.

While there, the AHA announced that it was honoring GRH for 100 years of participation and leadership in the national organization. AHA Regional Executive Sean Barry presented the award to Davis, who was joined by board chair Steve McLean, vice chair Steve Kimball, and board secretary Jared Rogers at his side. The Hospital Association of Oregon President and CEO Becky Hultberg and Associate Vice President Katie Harris also participated in the recognition.

“The American Hospital Association is proud to recognize Grande Ronde Hospital for 100 years of membership in the AHA,” said Barry. “The team of caregivers and other professionals at Grande Ronde Hospital play a vital role in the health of the community and its economy.”

Grande Ronde Hospital is one of the top employers in northeast Oregon, with more than 800 employees helping stabilize and secure rural health care services in the area, while also working to improve the quality of life of all residents.
