GRH conducts this critical assessment every three years as part of an ongoing cycle of assessment, planning, and action to guide healthcare efforts in Union County. "The IRS requires not-for-profit hospitals like GRH to conduct a Community Health Needs Assessment," explained Wendy Roberts, GRH’s Community Benefit Officer and Senior Director of Administrative Services. "This survey allows us to gather data, understand results, and implement a work plan based on our identified needs."

GRH has partnered with the Hospital Council of Northwest Ohio for over a decade to conduct these assessments. The survey’s design is largely standardized, with 80% of questions sourced from the CDC’s Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System, which collects data on health collaboration with local stakeholders, including the Center for Human Development, social service agencies, law enforcement, schools, and other key partners.

The comprehensive survey, consisting of more than 100 questions, covers a wide range of topics, including community members' health status, exercise habits, diet, and overall well-being. The findings will help GRH and its partners determine where to focus time and resources over the next three years. "The survey responses are critical in guiding our focus on the most pressing community health needs," Roberts emphasized.

What to Expect in the Virtual Meeting:

  • Presentation of key findings from the assessment
  • Opportunity for community input and questions
  • Discussion on collaborative efforts to improve local healthcare and wellness

Union County residents, local leaders, and stakeholders are encouraged to attend and participate in the conversation. For more information or to access the meeting, visit grh.org or call 541.963.1469.
