Grande Ronde Hospital & Clinics is proud to welcome home Dr. Andrew Baum, DPM, who has joined our team to provide comprehensive podiatric care to the community that raised him.
A native son of Union County, Dr. Baum’s return marks the continuation of a family legacy rooted in leadership, service, and deep commitment to this region. With one grandfather, a longtime principal at La Grande High School, and the other a respected local businessman and military figure, Dr. Baum grew up understanding the importance of giving back.
“My family has given so much to this place—and this place has given so much to me,” he said. “It’s now my turn to give back.”
Dr. Baum brings with him advanced training in podiatric medicine and surgery, including specialized care in wound management, diabetic foot health, and complex surgical procedures. What drew him to podiatry, he says, was the opportunity to help people stay active and independent—an essential part of living fully.
“Everybody on this earth is happiest when they’re healthiest and most active,” he said. “That’s what we try to achieve in podiatry—helping people stay mobile and independent.”
Known for his patient-centered approach, Dr. Baum believes that the best outcomes come from a foundation of empathy and shared decision-making. “Every patient should be treated like a member of the provider’s own family. I want patients to feel seen and heard, and to be partners in their care.”
Outside of medicine, Dr. Baum enjoys trail running, rafting, reading history, and making tacos with his brother, Wyatt. But more than anything, he’s excited to put down roots and raise his family in the Grande Ronde Valley—a place he has always called home.
“Coming back to serve Union County is an incredible honor,” he said. “I’m grateful to be here.”
Dr. Baum is now accepting new patients at the GRH Podiatric Medicine and Surgery Clinic. To learn more or schedule an appointment, call 541-663-3100 or visit www.grh.org.
