There’s a buzz of excitement at Grande Ronde Hospital Orthopedics & Sports Medicine Clinic—and for good reason. Two new chapters are unfolding, bringing a beloved provider back home and introducing a new one with deep, local roots.

Our new providers

Benjamin Olson, DO, a skilled and highly regarded orthopedic surgeon, will return to the clinic this summer. After a year away, he will resume seeing patients on July 14. His return has been met with genuine enthusiasm from patients, staff and the community alike. Dr. Olson is known not only for his exceptional surgical expertise but also for the compassion and personal care he offers every patient. His absence was felt deeply, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to welcome him home.

Adding even more momentum to this exciting time is the arrival of Andrew Baum, DPM, a podiatrist and La Grande native, who will begin seeing patients on July 21. Dr. Baum returns to Northeast Oregon after completing his final year of residency in Los Angeles. He brings advanced foot and ankle care training and a strong desire to give back to the community that raised him. Many locals know the Baum family as longtime residents and respected contributors to our region, and we are honored to have Dr. Baum continuing that legacy through patient care.

Expanding access to care

While these two additions are worth celebrating on their own, they also reflect something bigger: the strength and growth of our Orthopedics & Sports Medicine team. We’re also proud to recognize James Mathis, MD, orthopedic surgeon, who will mark his first anniversary with GRH this June. Alongside Arie Trouw, MD, orthopedic surgeon, and Aaron Cooper, PA-C, our clinic continues to grow in both size and reputation, providing top-tier orthopedic and podiatric care—right here at home.

As we look to the future, we’re excited about the expanded services and continued excellence our team will offer patients across Union County and the surrounding areas. These are big wins for Grande Ronde Hospital—and even bigger wins for the people we serve.
