Life and Health
Back to Summer 2023
A great time for a good cause
The Grande Ronde Hospital Foundation is pleased to announce the Healthier Together fundraiser event on June 24 at the Union County Fairgrounds, where they will unveil the next phase of the Healthier Together campaign. The campaign supports the Grande Ronde Hospital's Campus Expansion Project, which will house a new Surgical Services Department, a cafeteria and the Dietary Department, and will generate support for future projects and services at GRH.
Guests will be able to enjoy music from The Wasteland Kings. This local favorite band will be coming from spring performances all over the northwest. Multiple food vendors will allow attendees to choose from different types of cuisine to share with friends or try a variety themselves. Games, activities and fun of all kinds, including last year's crowd favorite, axe throwing, will be available!
Raffles and prizes
The Foundation will hold three separate raffles as part of its fundraising efforts. Golden, Silver and Bronze ticket raffles will be held leading up to the event, with winners being drawn that night. The Golden Ticket Raffle will give one winner a choice from seven vacation packages. The Silver Ticket Raffle will have one winner choose from options for regional trips centered in the western U.S. Lastly, the Bronze Ticket Raffle will feature gift baskets from local businesses, vendors and artisans. Multiple winners from the Bronze Ticket Raffle will each, in turn, get to choose from available baskets. They will be encouraged to haggle, barter and trade for their desired basket. Each raffle category has limited tickets and is available to anyone over 18 years old, even if they are not attending the event.
"We're thrilled to be able to offer a fun and memorable event and to give people the opportunity to learn about and support our campaign," says Patrick Flynn, Foundation Manager. "We believe that when the community is engaged with and supports local, independent health care, we are Healthier Together!"
All proceeds from the event will go directly to the Grande Ronde Hospital Foundation and its Healthier Together campaign, which is generating funds for the GRH Campus Expansion Project's construction and equipment.
Flynn says that during the event, a live appeal will give attendees a chance to pledge their support for the project in person and encourage others to commit as well. "It is neat to see people making a statement to support a project such as this and to give a nudge to their friends to do the same," he notes, adding that all sizes of support add up quickly. "Donations of all sizes are encouraged. Who knows, your donation might be matched! Every pledge counts!"
Those who cannot attend the event are encouraged to pledge online on the event website.
What does Healthier Together mean to you?
Healthier Together could mean keeping yourself and your loved ones in good health with regular visits to the doctor's office, discovering and treating illness or disease early, or making the choices to get or stay healthy. To the Grande Ronde Hospital Foundation, it means bringing in equipment and funding projects to aid in the health of the community. It means giving our families, friends and neighbors the ability and resources to get healthy and stay healthy.
The Foundation is also passionate about equipping the GRH staff with the best possible tools and equipment to perform their jobs at the highest level. Throughout the Foundation's history, we have helped purchase medical equipment such as x-ray machines at Urgent Care and 3D mammography machines. We also aided in the installation of the helipad and most recently assisted in the Campus Expansion Project, which will house a new and expanded Surgical Services Department. The Foundation's goal is to continue to provide patient care equipment and projects for Grand Ronde Hospital and Clinics to benefit all of our patients.
Donations stay here at home
The Healthier Together phrase is very important to the Foundation as a constant reminder to pursue the health and wellness of others. The Foundation takes pride in the ability to assist in providing needed, important equipment to ensure that patients receive accurate diagnoses and proper care, while also giving patients what they need to be healthier—right here at home. However, the Foundation cannot achieve this mission alone. We rely on engagement with the communities we serve to fulfill the promise of being Healthier Together through donations, volunteering and advocacy. Donors can make a difference for the entire community, where donations stay at home and benefit you and those you love and care for.
Come to our Healthier Together event on June 24, or if you are not able, check our website to learn more about the Healthier Together capital campaign, how you can help, and how it will support next steps for health care in northeastern Oregon and beyond. With your help, we will be Healthier Together.
