GRH is adding four new family practice providers for you!
Our newest primary care providers are skilled in the care of patients of all ages with a variety of health care concerns.Family practice physician Mary Deighton, DO, and family nurse practitioners Jessica Martin, FNP; Thor Hauff, FNP; and Shayne Yocum, FNP, are the newest members of the patient care team at the Grande Ronde Hospital (GRH) Regional Medical Clinic (RMC), 506 Fourth St. in La Grande.
Prevention and wellness
“I really love all aspects of family medicine—mostly for its diversity,” says Dr. Deighton, when asked why she chose the specialty. Family practice integrates the biological, clinical and behavioral sciences, encompassing all ages, both genders, each organ system and every disease entity, according to the American Academy of Family Physicians.
“My hope is to build lifelong relationships with my patients and this community,” says Hauff, who is currently seeing patients at the Walk-In Clinic, but has a strong background in the broad scope of family practice.
Martin sees her primary care role as that of first contact for the patient when a medical illness, issue or concern arises. “But I don’t want to just treat the symptom. I want to help establish a care plan that incorporates prevention and wellness,” she says.
Although Yocum will be seeing patients periodically at the Walk-In Clinic, her primary role will be to assist neurologist Rodrigo Lim, MD, with his neurology patients in his practice at the RMC and to assist with trauma patients in the emergency department at GRH.
