At Grande Ronde Hospital, our commitment to providing exceptional care to our community is unwavering. To better serve you, we’ve undertaken a transformative expansion of our facilities—one that reflects our vision of delivering “Big City Medicine. Hometown Touch.”
On January 26, 2022, the Grande Ronde Hospital and Clinics (GRH) Board of Trustees approved a plan to move forward with a 96,000-square-foot expansion of our hospital building. This decision was driven by our success in recruiting more primary care providers and physicians with surgical privileges to our team, resulting in continuous growth in surgical service volumes. We’ve outgrown the space currently occupied by our operating rooms and procedure rooms, making this expansion a necessary and forward-thinking investment in the future of healthcare in our community.
In addition to addressing immediate needs, this project proactively resolves state code compliance requirements for operating rooms by 2028, ensuring we remain ahead of regulatory demands. By acting now, we’re building a foundation for long-term growth and innovation.
What the Expansion Includes:
Modern Surgical Facilities: Five advanced operating rooms equipped with the latest technology to ensure optimal outcomes.
Enhanced Patient Spaces: Comfortable and private areas designed with healing and patient-centered care in mind with uninterrupted views of our valley.
Seamless Connectivity: Improved corridors and transitions between our South Campus and the hospital for ease of movement.
Community-Oriented Design: Spaces that reflect the warmth and closeness of our community, including a spacious dining space offering sweeping views of Grande Ronde Valley and a state-of-the-art bistro.

Our new facilities will also empower us to recruit and retain top-tier providers, further expanding our local services. Designing for the Future:
Grande Ronde Hospital has worked with national consultants and healthcare-specific architects, leveraging data-driven tools to determine the scope of this new build. Our surgical services staff provided invaluable input and feedback, and we conducted four onsite visits to other regional hospitals to understand what worked well for them and what they wished they had done differently. All these efforts were undertaken to design a facility we will be proud of for future generations while solving space constraints and current patient and process flow limitations. This expansion also provides space for future options, ensuring flexibility for our growing campus.
