What We Do

Bringing home a new baby presents unexpected challenges, including questions and concerns about breastfeeding. The GRH Lactation Consulting & Breastfeeding Support program, led by International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) Emily Wheeler, is here to support you throughout your breastfeeding journey.

Breastfeeding Support Services

Prenatal Visits: Prenatal lactation visits with our IBCLC provides guidance about what to expect, and can help you solve potential problems before they occur.

Inpatient Support: Once your little one has arrived, we'll help you begin breastfeeding your baby. Our birthing center nursing staff are trained to provide initial breastfeeding guidance and support. If you need additional guidance, you have the opportunity to connect with our IBCLC before you even take your newborn home. Our desire is to provide education and support from the very beginning of your breastfeeding journey.

Outpatient Visits: Your care continues after you arrive home with your newborn. Call us any time to make an appointment with our IBCLC for your breastfeeding needs, questions, or concerns. When appropriate, virtual visits may be available.

Meet our International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC)

Emily Wheeler has worked as a registered nurse in the Grande Ronde Hospital Family Birthing Center since 2014. After seeing a need for additional breastfeeding support within the Grande Ronde Valley, she recently certified as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). Emily has two children of her own, and is passionate about helping other mothers reach their own breastfeeding goals. She looks forward to meeting you and your new arrival, and helping support your breastfeeding needs.
