What to expect from your imaging appointment
Diagnostic imaging includes a broad spectrum of services offered throughout our hospital and clinics. While specific preparation and follow-up instructions may vary by procedure, there are some standards you can expect when you make your appointment with Grande Ronde Hospital and Clinics. We want your appointment to be as comfortable as possible, and are aware that knowing what to expect can make all the difference.
Exam Preparation
It's important to follow the preparation instructions given to you by the imaging scheduling team during the scheduling process. These instructions vary widely, so be sure to clarify if you're unsure of the preparation details. Be sure to note your check-in time, which may differ from your actual appointment time, and any pre-procedure lab work required. If you have concerns or questions you'd like addressed before your appointment, don't be afraid to ask. We are here to support you!
If you're interested in learning more about how your specific procedure is performed, we recommend RadiologyInfo.org. All material on the RadiologyInfo.org website is reviewed and approved by experts in the field of radiology from RSNA and the ACR, as well as other professional radiology organizations.
Our patient portal, MyChart, is an excellent way to keep track of upcoming imaging appointments. Learn more about MyChart here.
During Your Exam
We recommend you wear non-restrictive, metal-free comfortable clothing to your appointment. Upon arrival, be sure to alert our check-in staff if you have pre-procedure lab work that is required.
There are a few simple steps to ensuring your imaging results are of the highest quality:
- Stay calm and relaxed
- Remain as still as possible, unless you are instructed to move
- Pay close attention to the instructions given throughout the exam
- Ask questions if you're not certain what you've been asked to do
We want you to be as comfortable as possible, so if you're feeling too cold, need your legs elevated, or have other discomforts, please let us know at any time.
After Your Exam
For most exams, you are free to leave once your imaging appointment is complete. Your imaging results will need to be interpreted by a radiologist, which means you won't immediately receive your results. Once the radiologist provides a report to the provider who requested the imaging, your provider will evaluate the results. Your provider will then follow up with you regarding results and develop a treatment plan based on that diagnosis.
Our patient portal, MyChart, is an excellent way to keep track of results that have been released by your GRH provider. Learn more about MyChart here.
If your provider requests that you take CD of your imaging results with you, our Medical Records department can walk you through the process of obtaining a copy of your results.
If you have any questions regarding an upcoming or recent appointment, please contact the Diagnostic Imaging Services Department at 541.963.1452, and ask to speak to a technologist who performs your type of exam.
