Grande Ronde Hospital Regional Medical Clinic Manager Donna Louden (fourth from right) and several members of her clinic staff recently handed over a whopping $1,000 check to Carmen Gentry (third from left), the food bank distribution manager for Community Connection of Northeast Oregon, located in La Grande.
On Saturday, May 2, Grande Ronde Hospital hosted an open house and ribbon cutting at the newly remodeled and expanded Regional Medical Clinic, 506 4th Street, La Grande. During the event planning phase, a significant portion of the overall budget was set aside for a grand prize or giveaways as an incentive for the public to attend. It was decided that a portion of that would be in the form of a $300 gift cardto be drawn by one lucky attendee. And – in light of therecent layoffs in Union County – it was also determined that another portionwould be used to make a cash donation to local food banks for every individual that attended.
The Community Relations Departmentalso devised a creative and fun way to keep track of the attendance numbers and advertisedthe hospital'sintention to make this donation on a per person basis. At the end of the open house approximately 239 attendees had been tallied. It was the generous decision ofHospital President and CEO Jim Mattes to round that number to 250 in order to make a total donation of $1,000.
Grande Ronde Hospital proactively seeks ways be fully engaged as a community partner and benefit the region beyond the scope of the quality patient care we provide every day.
