11th Annual Grande Ronde Rehab Run Set for Saturday,Sept. 26
Studies show that healthy activities like walking and running improve our well being and help reduce the risk of health-related concerns. With the goal of good community health in mind, for more than a decade Grande Ronde Hospital’s Rehabilitation Therapy Department has hosted the Grande Ronde Rehab Run.
The GRRR!—as it has come to be know—takes place Saturday, September at 8 AM. The starting point in the Hospital parking lot provides a sweeping view of the Grande Ronde Valley and surrounding majestic Blue Mountains. Routes take participants through beautiful La Grande where the changing season has already begun to color this Tree City in a fabulous palette of fall color.
This event has three participation levels—a timed 10K run which begins at 8 AM, and a non-timed 5K run or walk or a non-timed 3K walk which both begin at 8:30 AM. Three opportunities to participate make the GRRR! the perfect fall fun run and walk for serious runners, joggers, power walkers or casual strollers.
“If people want to walk their dogs on leash or push a baby stroller and bring their kids, that is great. We just want the community to participate,” says June Wilson, Rehab Therapy Department manager. “This event has always been about motivating people to get moving and keep moving.”
