LA GRANDE, OR- It was a memorable weekend for the Grande Ronde Hospital Foundation and those who competed in the 25th Annual Grande Ronde Amateur golf tournament at the La Grande Country Club! This 36-hole individual stroke play tournament was just one feature of the action packed three-day event held on September 6, 7, and 8. Also included was a single and two-person Sole Survivor competition, a hole-in-one contest, and a putting contest. Additional winning opportunities took place during dinner which included a live auction, silent auction and raffle drawing.
Corporate sponsors Pepsi Cola Bottling Company of Eastern Oregon and Allstate Insurance Brent Wylam are thrilled to announce the gross score winners as Blake Bars for the Open Men’s Division with a 146, Michelle Bell in the Women’s Division with 152, and Mark Grigg for the Men’s Senior Group with a 146.
A tight race ensued after tournament play on Sunday during the single and two-person Sole Survivor competitions, ultimately leaving Jeff Neher as the last individual standing and Brian Bell with Jim Clark as the last team standing.
Foundation Manager Patrick Flynn, summed up the weekend by saying, “We had 52 golfers, two corporate sponsors, 32 tournament sponsors, and 43 regional and local businesses donate to the auctions and raffle this year. In addition, we had 19 volunteers, a wonderful meal catered by Island City Market and Deli, Auctioneer services donated by Jake Seavert, and the event hosted by The La Grande Country Club. It is only with the tremendous generosity of our local community that the Foundation is able to put on such a great fundraiser to help with patient care projects at Grande Ronde Hospital and Clinics.”
